DESCRIPTION

Flight hostess, on January 26, 1972 she was involved in the plane crash of the JAT Flight 367 airliner, on which she worked.

The plane exploded at 10,160 meters above sea level due to a bomb, and Vulović survived the explosion first and then a flight of 10,160 meters without parachutes, getting stuck in some wreckage, including the corpse of a colleague and a cart metallic.

It was found by chance by Bruno Honke, a former army doctor, among some pieces of the plane. He suffered several fractures: skull, vertebrae and legs, remaining in a coma for 27 days.

After a few months of rehabilitation he recovered, without ever perfectly recovering the use of his legs. Vesna asked several times to return to her job as flight hostess, but the Jat company preferred to assign her a job in a ground office.

She was fired in 1990 for criticizing Slobodan Milošević’s government. Considered a national hero in the former Yugoslavia, Vesna Vulović holds the Guinness Book of Records, given to her in 1985 by Paul McCartney, for the highest fall without parachute, 10,160 meters.

Vesna Vulović (Belgrade, January 3, 1950 – Belgrade, December 23, 2016) was a Serbian activist and flight attendant.
